by on Mar.21, 2010, under extreme sports

Name of club: The LARP Alliance.

When formed: November 2008.

Current president: Rick McCoy.

Number of members: 409.

Club’s mission: To promote Live Action Role Play.

Area served: Based in Rancho Cucamonga but serving all of the Inland Empire.

Meeting time and place: 7 p.m.-10 p.m. every Thursday at Redhill Community Park (Southside) to teach live combat with foam weapons. The first Wednesday of the month for our general meet-up. Look up larp.meetup.com/129 for more details.

Current projects: The group holds classes for its guilds: The Dramatist’s Guild, The Fighter’s Guild, the Foamsmith’s Guild

Notable accomplishments: Universal Pictures’ movie “Role Models.” The group’s CEO was the technical adviser to the film. The group was able to get real LARPers into the movie, as well as real LARP weapons that were used by extras and LARP alike.

Quote: The simplest version of Live Combat LARP is paintball-with-swords. The more complex game play is similar to a live version of the popular video game “World of Warcraft.” It’s fun, physical, and challenging.
