Paintball – Why Compressed Air Is Superior To CO2

by Gary Garrett on Feb.23, 2010, under Paintball

In this article you will learn some stuff about CO2 and how it works in your paintball gun. It is a popular power source for many paintball players, but it isn’t the best power source. Compressed air is a much more dependable option, although it is more expensive.

Many paintball players are fine staying with CO2. It works well enough if their gun that they don’t have a good enough reason to upgrade. For those of you that want to best they can get though, you should consider upgrading.

In cold weather CO2 can be lots of trouble. Problems such as inconsistency, sputtering, choking, shooting snow, gun getting cold, tank getting cold, and your gun “freezing up” are what you can experience while using it.

Most of these problems generally occur when you are shooting fast. When you are unloading paint at a target, you especially don’t want anything to affect your accuracy.

Inside of your tank it exists as both a gas and a liquid. The gas works best for powering your gun, while the liquid causes the problems. As the gas is shot, the liquid will turn into gas. When you are shooting fast, the liquid will have a hard time changing to gas fast enough, especially in cold weather that it will go into your gun.

You don’t want liquid to enter your gun because it causes horrible consistency. One shot may travel a normal distance, but when you shoot fast, each shot after it may travel shorter and shorter.

It makes it difficult to keep an opponent in their bunker or hit a person running when each shot your fire doesn’t travel as far as the one before it. Lacking consistency can cause you to get less eliminations and be a less effective player.

So what can you use that won’t give you problems with consistency? Compressed air (also called HPA) is a superior alternative. It works much better in paintball guns, is more consistent and isn’t hindered by cold weather.

Shaping Up For Skydiving

by Sydney Jordan on Feb.18, 2010, under paintball guns

There’s more to skydiving gear than only 2 weights and jumpsuits. There are far more accessories that you will need if you want to jump safely high up in the air. Here are the things you have got to have around to get into this intense sport.

Altitude aides. One of the most mandatory devices for a skydiver is an altimeter and there are loads of types to pick from. Select an altimeter that is easily read and has a guaranty. Buy from stores that offer a lifetime guaranty. This is particularly helpful in case you in truth drop it in the creeper pad.

Audible Caution Devices. These devices would possibly not be as important but wearing this when you skydive can offer you security benefits. You may not rely on it so much but having an alert device that alarms when you surpass your altitude is surely useful. These are especially helpful if you’re a skydiver who needs to get into freefly, flat-fly and breaking off high. This device helps because each freefall time changes each time you dive. If you are serious about freeflying most pros recommendation that you may have an audible as a safety equipment that guides you when you travel in higher speeds. Audible devices can come in different kinds from the basic models to the more complicated which essentially turns into a log book that records freefall time and speed and sync up with your PC as an element of your stats. In reality the more features an audible device has, the dearer it is.

Shielding Helmets. Another mandatory skydiver’s gear is a helmet. Should you decide on purchasing one then you need to think about safety and comfort. Do trouble on finding one that fits you completely. For extra protection, you can get a full-face helmet. This accessory is good for those that wear contacts. On the other hand, going with open-faced helmets let’s you communicate better because your face is more exposed. But wearing open-faced helmets exposes both your mouth and jaw. Another pair of glasses would be bought to get more protection.

Another pair of eyeglasses would be acquired to get more protection. Another protecting accessory is the leather frappe hats. These hats are needed for a skydiver but give tiny protection when it comes to injuries. This is a good choice particularly if you are a seasoned diver.

Glove Protection. Gloves are necessary to shield your hands. Wearing one protects you from scratches, burns, accidents and the colder weather. Get one that’s thick enough so that it protects you from the cold and thin enough so you are still delicate enough to feel your handles. To get the best glove to skydive, purchase one from a specialty store and not your common sports shop.

Hook Knives Safety. Having hook knives around is required for skydiving. You will need this should you come across a line-over malfunction with you reserve chute. There are tons of hook knives to choose between. Decide on the ones that you not only like but that’s handy enough to fit your rig. Never place your hook knife near your chest area as you may lose it immediately. The number one place for this widget is right in your leg. Keep your knife blades pointed by not using it for other reasons.

How to Win in Pump Paintball Playing

by Bob Pascal on Feb.08, 2010, under Paintball

MWB2468x60

Paintball has come a long way from its conception. Much has evolved from its equipment to its rules. Because of so much development since 1970’s, paintball players tend to forget how it all started and to discriminate people who play paintball like those of the old days. Paintball of the old days would mean playing pump paintball. Unlike, the contemporary paintball game, which uses automatic paintball markers, pump paintball usually uses stock class paintball markers.

One of the disadvantages of using pump markers is that there is a necessity to use two hands for the equipment to work. Thus, a pump paintball player needs to avoid certain situations where he would not be able to utilize his two hands. Some of this situation is when he is in a consistent crawling position. Although it is not impossible to use pump markers in a crawling position, it is still advisable to avoid this certain situation because it would be difficult for the paintball player to maintain a steady rate of fire. It is also important to remember that pump markers does not automatically load a paintball after triggering it. It would be a good habit to re-cock the gun instantly after firing because if a player is caught one handed, he is still prepared to shoot to his opponent. Other points to remember in playing pump paintball are to be erratic enough to be able to look for opportunities to fire at the opponent and to take time to move around because staying in a place would make a player very easy bait.

Developing the players’ skills is important in playing paintball and it would be greatly affected by the type of gun he uses. Pump paintball markers would be most suitable in preparing the paintball player for the game because with the use of pump paintball markers, a player will most likely depend on his own assets than on the gun. It is more difficult to develop a skill than to upgrade a gun. In cultivating one’s skill, processes are involved and it does not happen overnight. On the other hand, a paintball gun can be upgraded with a snap of a finger as long as you got the cash.

A pump paintball marker fundamentally works by using one or two CO2 12g cartridges. CO2 or carbon dioxide is used to boost the gun. Sometimes, it is also used for mines and grenades. A load of CO2 would already last long enough to discharge an opponent twice. This means that a player should bring some CO2 during the game.

Pump paintball markers are also cheaper than any other types of guns. Because of its inexpensiveness, it is more practical to use. Rather than using expensive guns, it is more proficient to use something that could help you become a good paintball player in a very reasonable price.

The bottom line here is that pump paintball play is fun and challenging and anyone who plays with pump markers are not afraid to take the challenge. Pump playing should not be stereotyped in any way because it is essentially the same as any paintball game only that it is more fun.

Before you purchase any paintball equipment be sure to read what Bob says about the best discount pump paintball gun and how to playdiscount pump paintball.

Everything You Need to Know About Paintball Barrels

by Alfonz Gregory Perry Dinzel on Feb.08, 2010, under Paintball

The paintball barrels are used for aiming purpose while playing the game. As we have different kinds of paintballs, the barrel of the paintball should also be available in all those forms so as to make sure that the ball exactly suits the barrels size. For this there are some specifications to be followed in order to make the barrel more effective in playing.

The bore diameter, barrel length, barrel style are the important factors that has to be taken into consideration while choosing a good barrel for playing. The sliding and screwing barrels are used in the earlier versions where threading is used. Some type of basic threading are autococker, spyder, shocker, A-5, etc.

The paintball barrels are classified in to three configurations. They are one piece, two piece and three piece paintball barrels. This barrels system has a provision to exchange between the barrels so that it will be useful while playing. Usually two or three piece barrels are used.

The paintball barrel has some specifications to be maintained. It must be 3 – 31 inches in length. Barrels with customization option can go up to 48 inches. The length factor is important that longer the barrels very less sound while shooting.

Mostly players will choose their barrel length to be around 14 and 16 inches. The reason for this is to make accurate shootings and also to make it more portable. Inflatable bunkers can be pushed easily during the course of the game if you use a long barrel. This is an advantage of the paintball barrel.

The paintball barrel has an inner bore in which the paintball is placed and shot. This bore should be equal in diameter to the paintball to have uniform and more velocity of the ball during shooting. If you use a two or three piece barrels, there is no need of changing the barrels.

These are just some of the basics behind paintball barrels. Having a good barrel can change your game. A good barrel can shoot everything from paintball seconds to the very best. Find the perfect paintball barrel.

Essential Weapons and Gadgets for a Paintball Sniper

by Peter Jackson on Feb.04, 2010, under Paintball

A paintball game would not be that fun if the paintball sniper player is absent. So here are some facts about the one of the most exciting position in the paintball field.

A paintball sniper really needs a good set of sniper guns. To be an effective sniper, he must be able kill the target in just one shot, so that the opponent will not discover its hiding spot. To accomplish this, he needs to have the important equipment that a paintball sniper uses, the paintball sniper gun. Though all of the paintball guns have the same distance range, it is still possible to do sniping with proper attachments to the gun.

The paintball sniper needs to have the extra skill that is developed from experience and trainings that is unique from the other members of the team. He also needs to know the battle field by heart, every corner of it, so that during the playing time, he can situate himself purposely, and know where the opposing team might perform their tactics. He also needs to have the essential equipments to make his role productive during the play.

Camouflaging is another point that you have to consider. But you also have to consider the playing field that you will be playing into. When playing through bushes and greens, wearing black and green paintball suit will help you blend with the environment, which will help you in your silent attacks. Try not to dress a heavyweight suit that will make you uneasy all throughout the game time.

The forward sniper, at the beginning of the game heads forward right away and the other members follow. He then positions himself to camouflage with the environment and waits patiently to do an action. The first key to be an effective forward sniper is the ability to hide himself to perfectly execute a sniper action. He must be tolerant and undisturbed by the presence of opponents rushing at his position, but a good cover up will enable the enemy not to spot him. He must then fire a shot when the opponent pass him by, and shoot it at the back before it can see him. He must also help his team to avoid being shot once he sees that the opponent is about to attack. One of the most important roles of the forward sniper is shooting the most skilled opponent in a short time with a one-shot kill. With this, his team will be able to turn down the rest of the opponent with ease.

In conclusion, a paintball sniper must have a sharp eye to spot the opponent, and take a single shot to pin down the enemy. They must feel that they are one with the environment and take its advantage.

Before you start to learn about or purchase any paintball gear, be sure to read Peter’s reviews and tips about discount paintball sniper guns and paintball sniper guns.

An Intro to Playing Paintball

by Reed Mitty on Feb.03, 2010, under Paintball

Finding a game that the whole family can enjoy during the summer time is not an easy task. However, if you looked at combat games you will find paintball is one of the only games that can be played by the whole family, young and old. Now, you will obviously not have grandpa running around with a paintball gun trying to catch the younger people with paintballs. You could always make grandpa the general so that he could make up the game plays.

Paintball is a game of strategy, kind of like chess, so not only does it test your ability to think under pressure, it pushes you to practice visual-strategics before each mach. This is an essential skill to learn in life – it goes along with the whole “see it and achieve it” mindset. Another aspect that is really great about this game, is that your can have an infinite number of players taking on an infinite number of challenges or game variants. This alone makes every weekend of play new and challenging.

If you come across a paintball game at a fair or carnival then you will probably not be playing the full version and you will only have a short amount of time to get your opponent covered in paint. When you go to a paintball course you will find that you have a huge area to play in and it is usually set in a forest type of setting which makes it more realistic as if you were in the army.

If you want to make it a game that will last for a few hours, just like a true battle, you will need to have a large team of people, or if people are few in numbers, simply give each player a limited number of lives.

This will be played where you will have a few people on a team and each team will have about five flags. The objective of this game would be for each team to hunt down the other teams flag (after they have hidden it in the combat area).

The first team to have all five of the other teams flags win. Now, it is not as easy as it may seem, because each team can re capture their flags, making the game of paintball even longer.

Getting into paintball can be one of the best choices you make. It will bring your family together in ways you never expect. Learn more about this thrilling game – What to Wear Paintballing.

Keep Fog From Ruining Paintball Games With a Thermal Lens

by Ryan Gert on Feb.02, 2010, under Paintball

Lets face it; if you cant see your opponent in a game of paintball, you have little chance of hitting them. Paintball relies heavily on your ability to spot your opponent.

A paintball mask is essential in the game of paintball. You can’t play without it. It’s there to protect your face and eyes from being potentially damaged.

Single pane lenses dont do the job. Many masks come with a single pane lens. It may the mask has fog protection, but that may be no more than a fog spray put on the lens. After a couple of games, the fog spray will wear off and youll have a fogged up mask.

Paintball gets blood pumping, which will cause your body to generate heat. Without a thermal lens, your mask is certain to fog up.

It is amazingly hard to play paintball effectively with a fogged up paintball lens. You become about as effective as if you were playing with your eyes closed.

There are two lenses that trap air in between them that prevent fog from building up on the lens. A thermal lens will keep fog from fouling your paintball games.

Thermal lenses are available for most paintball masks, so whatever mask you have, you should be able to find a thermal lens for it. They are more expensive than single pane lenses, but they are definitely worth it!

You won’t be able to step up to the next level of play if you continue to play with fog ruining your view. A thermal lens is a wonderful investment. If you want to stay in the game longer without fog getting in your way, pick up a thermal lens, you wont be sorry!

Easy Tips for Finding the Best Electric Paintball Hopper

by Jerry Garcia on Feb.01, 2010, under Paintball

In the sport of paintball shooting, the players need to know that they have a reliable mechanism that feeds the balls into their guns, or they are sure to loose. Spending money on various paintball hoppers come as part of the equipment setup needed for success. By definition a hopper is the chamber that sits on top of the gun and holds the ammunition before feeding it into the firing area of the gun. Basic hoppers work in different ways.

The professional player seeks out fast and reliable hoppers that not only deliver on firing power, but also keeps track of ball left ready to fire. Their number one choice is the force feed hopper that uses a complex system of springs to force balls into the gun, resulting in trust that every shot will produce a paintball right on target and time. Missing a shot due to malfunction of the hopper is virtually unheard of.

Hoppers called agitating hoppers propel balls using a little fan like device inside the hopper. The purpose of this is to stop balls sticking together or clogging up feeding tubes. Shooting in dry conditions is preferred as wetness affects the system quite badly and may cause problems.

Gravity-feed hoppers come standard with cheaper guns and use gravity to line up balls for firing. Not known for their reliability as balls tend to pile up in the feeding tube, causing your gun to stop firing. Gravity-feed hoppers can handle up to eight balls per second during firing.

Guns that work with a pump action use stick-feed hoppers that hold twenty four paintballs. The feeder attaches under the gun and balls are loaded by dipping the gun before the next shot is fired.

As with many other sporting equipment, paintball hoppers are evolving to fit the higher levels of gaming. Professional players seek hoppers that can hold up to three hundred balls whilst amateurs are quite happy with a capacity of 40 balls in their loaders.

Before buying a paintball hoppers, be sure you know you are getting the right one. See various hoppers and loaders – see Pump Paintball Hoppers

Key Point To Consider When Purchasing A Paintball Mask

by Donald Stevens on Jan.30, 2010, under Paintball

When you play paintball, you would like to protect your face. And by wearing a paintball mask, you can do exactly just that.

One of the most important protective gears in playing paintball is a paintball mask. It helps you keep the paintball markers that fly up to 300 feet per second and the paint off your face. Its prices range from $20 to $100. Accessories like headbands or visors to provide shade from the sun may be attached to it.

A paintball mask basically protects your face from paintball markers. It also prevents paint from getting in your eyes, nose, ears or mouth. Paint in a paintball marker is toxic and must not be ingested. It also prevents paintball markers from hitting any sensitive part of your face like your nose or your eyes or any part that can be irritated by the paint.

Head injuries from falling or tripping during a game are also prevented by a paintball mask. A paintball mask should be equipped with padding that gives you comfort and a snug fit on your head. The foam must shape itself on your face but return to its original form when the mask is taken off. It should also be firmly attached to the plastic of the mask.

The straps must be adequate for you to loosen or tighten them without stretching the traps out too much. You must be able to fully look down when wearing a mask. Your chest and mouth guard must not touch when looking down.

A good paintball mask must be equipped with a thermal or anti-fog lens. This consists of two lenses with a space filled with air acting as a barrier between the temperature near your face and the temperature outside the mask. This prevents the moisture on your face from condensing on your lens.

There are also fans that help prevent fogging on your lens on your paintball mask. They are installed on top your lens (but not all masks are fan-ready, so to speak). They help moisture on your face evaporate. These require batteries to operate. They can make considerable noise and are not very durable. They are also expensive.

Cleaning your paintball mask is important. First, take out most of the paint by running a rag over the mask. You can spray water on the paint to loosen it a little. Chemicals and lens cleaners can damage your paintball mask. So it is not advisable to use them.

Be meticulous and clean out those little spaces in your masks. You can remove the lens on your paintball mask and clean its edges too. This will stop the paint from building up in those hard to reach places and trickling down on you or your lens, spoiling your vision during the game. Microfiber cloth is a good way to take the excess oil off the lens of your paintball mask. This helps your maintain a clear vision on your lens when you use it.

Before you purchase any paintball accessories, check out what Donald writes about the best paintball mask with fan and paintball tactics.
